Summary

The Lavender Homebirth Team are recruiting. We are looking for an experienced, dedicated midwife, passionate about providing continuity of care to a group of women choosing to birth their baby at home.

This opportunity will encourage you to develop your autonomous skills to provide care to women in pregnancy, intrapartum and postnatally.

You will work with your buddy midwife to manage a caseload of women within an area of Frimley Health’s catchment.

You will liaise closely with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure appropriate care planning is in place, where risk factors are present, to ensure fully informed, safe care is offered and provided to our women.

This post will be for approximately 12 months, starting in July 2024.

Homebirth Midwife

All midwife practitioners will be Registered Midwives, accountable for their own midwifery practice and will be able to fulfil the following role through the ability to make decisions with current protocols and principles of care in compliance with the NMC’s Midwives Rules and code of Midwifery Practice.

This midwife may be a recently qualified midwife or she/he may be very experienced but she/he will be expected to continue with post-registration education and development to become a confident midwife able to provide care with the women either in the community or hospital environment.

The post holder is required to take responsibility as a prime care provider in either the hospital or community setting. She/he will be confident in providing midwife led care.

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust provides NHS hospital services for around 900,000 people across Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey and south Buckinghamshire.

As well as delivering excellent general hospital services to local people, we provide specialist heart attack, vascular, stroke, spinal, cystic fibrosis and plastic surgery services across a much wider area.

We have three main hospitals - Frimley Park in Frimley near Camberley, Heatherwood in Ascot and Wexham Park near Slough.

Our three core values, and the behaviours that support them, guide everything we do and set out what we expect of our staff in the way they treat patients, visitors, service users and each other, Committed to Excellence, Working Together and Facing the Future.

We are also proud to host the Defence Medical Group South East at Frimley Park with military surgical, medical and nursing personnel working alongside the hospital's NHS staff providing care to patients in all specialties

The successful candidates will join a small Midwifery team offering low risk care. The team works closely with around 6 colleagues in a supportive, caring and learning environment, supporting students and liaising closely with other members of the wider team, providing excellent and up-to-date care to women accessing the service.

The team provides antenatal, Intrapartum and postnatal care for women in the home setting and community hubs, facilitating informed choice and promoting low risk homebirths.
