Summary


An exciting opportunity for Band 6 Social Worker has become available to join the Liaison Psychiatry Team based at North Middlesex University Hospital. This is a permanent, full-time post and we are looking for a Social Worker to join our service to compliment our Multi-disciplinary Team. We are looking for a highly dedicated practitioner who is motivated, compassion and highly clinically skilled to be able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment. The focus of your role would be to demonstrate expertise within social care to reflect seamless mental health care within an acute hospital setting. You will be able to demonstrate ability to assess, identify and evaluate client’s needs and risks through comprehensive assessment of working age and older adults attending the Accident and Emergency Department and also review patients who are on acute wards with mental health problems. The NMUH Liaison service provides a comprehensive specialist service to patients and carers in the general hospital setting. You may also be expected to work on a shift system across a 24-hr period seven days a week, primarily assessing individuals who present with mental health crisis.

You will be working as part of a service that responds to adults presenting to acute hospital A&E department and patients admitted to medical wards. The main clinical responsibilities for the service include: the assessment of working age and older adults attending the Accident and Emergency Department and on acute wards with mental health problems; the assessment of people presenting with self-harm; alcohol and substance misuse problems, medically unexplained symptoms, antenatal and postnatal women with serious mental illnesses; to support clinical staff in NMUH working with patients with mental health problems. A significant component of this liaison psychiatry model involves teaching and training. The team is passionate about promoting good mental health and well-being. The presence of Liaison Team in the Acute hospital is a pivotal part of the mental health care pathway for people with acute mental health difficulties.

BEHMHT is a multiple award-winning, combined mental health (MH) and community Trust providing local, regional and national healthcare services.
