Summary


Decontamination Team Leader (HSDU)

Band3 £22,816 - £24,336 per annum

Hours:37.5 hours per week – Early shift 8am – 4pm – Late shift 11am – 7pm (This also include 1 Saturday in 4 and full participation in the weekend on call rota)

The team leader role encompasses direct supervision of technicians combined with full participation in the operational aspects of the department.

The Decontamination Unit provides a comprehensive decontamination service to theatres, wards and departments within the hospital complex. The unit processes reusable surgical equipment and medical devices.

As a clinical support service, the department operates from 8am – 7pm (Monday – Friday) and 8am – 4pm Saturday. An on-call system is in operation from 4pm Saturday until 8am Monday. This on call system forms part of the team leader role. The on call covers trauma & emergency service for theatres and departments out of hours.

The current shift patterns are 8am – 4pm (early) and 11am – 7pm (late) on a rotational basis but the person appointed would need to flexible and change shifts at short notice to manage the needs of the service.

The ideal candidate will have recent HSDU experience and be familiar with the operational aspects of a Quality Management System.

The successful candidate should hold the e-learning qualification in decontamination, and you would be required to complete the introduction certificate in team leading.



To supervise and participate in daily activities ensuring the effective decontamination and sterilisation of reusable medical devices

Supervise staff in all areas of production and distribution to ensure standards are maintained and work quotas met. Working within a controlled environment to ensure that QMS is effectively operated and monitored in accordance with the Quality Manual and associated Policies and Procedures.
