Summary

TITLE: Early Years Practitioner RESPONSIBLE TO: Hoppers’ Manager and Company Director.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To work hands on as part of the staff team under the direction of the Manager to provide safe, high-quality care, play and education without bias or discrimination for children aged between 2 and 11 years.

MAIN DUTIES:
~ To help supervise the pre-school and out of school groups in and out of the setting, ensuring that the safety and well being of the children is paramount.
~ To support the Manager in the day to day running of Alsager Hoppers, providing a safe and stimulating environment and a varied programme of play.
This will include;
o Treating all individuals associated with the group with respect, kindness and consideration.
o Making a commitment to equality and diversity; seeking out information to provide yourself with a full understanding of the concepts to enable you to uphold the group’s dedication to inclusivity.
o Providing all children with appropriate care for their age and level of development including helping with toileting, changing nappies and clothing.
o Teaching the children, offering a suitable level of supervision, support and stimulation.
o Assessing, evaluating and monitoring the children's progress and needs.
o Making spot, short and long observations, and being responsible for recording all information daily.
o Contributing to the planning; providing activity ideas, evaluations and next step plans within the requested time frame.
o Evaluating the effectiveness of the EYFS, policies and routines.
o Keeping all records up to date.
o Providing the Manager with all information passed from parents or other members of staff and reporting any concerns whilst preserving confidentiality.
o Keeping all information regarding the children, their parents, the staff and the group as a whole that is learned through the job, completely confidential.
o Adhering to the group’s policies and procedures at all times.
o Complying with and up keeping the standards of health, hygiene and safety as set out for the group.
o The preparation, provision and clearing away of daily activities including; baking, messy play, outdoor activities and all others as requested.
o The preparation, service, supervision and clearing away of all snacks breakfast, lunches and tea.
o Ensuring that all play areas, equipment and resources are checked before and after every use and are safe for the children to use.
o All cleaning duties as requested for example washing up, tidying, vacuuming, mopping, wet wiping, window cleaning and the cleaning of toilets and sinks.
o Supervising the children on all out of premise visits and ensuring their safety and well being.
o Attending all staff meetings, training sessions and additional training courses as requested.
o Have a full understanding of the EYFS and play work principles and implement them throughout your work.
o Be responsible for your own personal development; reflecting upon your attitude and practices, reading up on new legislations, requirements and best practices which have an effect on your own working.
