An opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC / Machinist to join our team in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire. The role will provide applicants with the change to use their skills and provide a challenging and varied working environment.

The purpose of the role is to ensure that the customer receives a high-quality product in line with process and product specification. The role will support all stages of the manufacturing process, and will primarily be focused on the running and setting of machinery including CNC 5 axis, and the fitting and assembly of composite components for a range of customers in line with company documentation including specifications and drawings.

Your responsibilities in this role:

  • Using a range of air tools, machine and drill components using trim and drill jigs or by measuring from technical drawings
  • Assembly of composite components using standard fasteners such as riveting and anchor nuts. Cleaning and finishing of products using polishers
  • Ensuring the preparation of the bonding surfaces are clean and contamination free. Bonding using various adhesives and putting components into ovens for curing.
  • To operate CNC machine to produce product to the correct specification.
  • To set up the CNC machine in accordance with procedures
  • To programme the CNC in accordance with procedures
  • To undertake a variety of machine shop activities and processes dependant on the business requirements, including 3D printing.
  • To assist with new methodologies and processes, obtaining approval Team Lead / Manager or Engineering where needed.
  • To train colleagues in the attainment of skills via on the job training, if necessary.
  • To complete job cards and other required documentation accurately and timely and in line with process.
  • To communicate effectively with other departments to share any issues and contribute to the smooth running of production.
  • To support and liaise with other departments to resolve any machine shop issues and suggest improvements where possible.
  • To contribute to Continuous Improvement activities and undertaken at Advanced Composites.
  • To support management team and any regulatory bodies in obtaining any identified accreditation and maintaining compliance.

  • CNC operation
  • Undertaking general machine shop activities
  • Experienced working with composites
  • Hand tool usage
  • Working to instructions

Education:

  • Good standard of education
  • Relevant qualification at minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent

Experience:

  • Experienced in a process driven production environment
  • Experienced in working in manufacturing environment ideally composite
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Experienced working in a team.
