Summary

P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our client, who is currently seeking a Material Controller to join their team based in Norwich on a full-time, permanent basis.

Role Summary:
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Material Controller will be responsible for coordinating deliveries of goods and services from suppliers into the business. This role will also involve some entry level procurement which will be supported by the Supply Chain Manager and Buyers. The job holder will possess excellent communication skills to enable the development of strong relationships, in a professional manner, with the supplier and internal customer base.

Main Responsibilities:
• To interpret the company requirement plan and manage supplier order books by using the MRP system to ensure continued manufacturing.
• Process and assess purchase order acknowledgements, ensure on time deliveries, track shipments and expedite suppliers where necessary.
• Work closely with the Supply Chain and Planning teams to identify any product shortages and facilitate necessary order amendments.
• Identify problems and deal with any delivery delays with urgency; whilst finding resolutions with suppliers to minimise the impact on the business.
• Develop and maintain mutually beneficial supplier relationships at all organisational levels through regular contact with suppliers.
• Ensure that all systems and spreadsheets are updated with accurate order / delivery information.
• Entry level procurement which will be supported by the Supply Chain Manager and Buyers.
• Any other such duties that may be reasonably compatible with the nature and scope of the role.
• Working as part of the wider company team including Programme management, Engineering, QA, Inspection, Stores and Operations.
• Working within a strict time, budgetary and quality framework.

Skills & Experience:
• Previous experience of working in an office.
• Previous experience or working in a manufacturing Supply Chain role. (Desirable)
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
• Building relationships with the supplier base and internal customers to ensure good communication.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, using critical thinking, whilst providing attention to detail.
• Ability to work individually or as part of a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Team focused.
• Have a great work ethic, be enthusiastic and a willingness to learn.

Working Hours:
• Monday – Friday (37.5 hours a week).
• Occasional travel to supplier sites in the UK.
• Some unsocial working hours may be required from time to time.
