Summary
The apprentice will be required to carry out grounds maintenance work at local schools, doctors surgeries, private business and residential properties. This is a physically demanding role, including tasks such as:
Mowing.
Hedging (sometimes at height).
Both hard and soft landscaping, fencing, joinery walling.
Site clearance and occasional property maintenance.
In Winter we are involved with gritting and snow clearing.
This company has been operating for 28 years and as a member of the team we would expect you to work to a high standard and maintain a good level of customer service.
You must be comfortable working outside in all weathers. All machinery is provided.
Due to the nature of the role and location you will be required to undertake a full DBS check.
starting wage apprenticeship minimum with an opportunity to earn a performance pay rise during the apprenticeship.
Training
Horticulture or Landscape Operative Standard.
Maths and English Functional skills if required
Pesticides: Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides Guidance OR Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides
First Aid at Work qualification
Training by day release at Shipley College
Qualifications required
Maths and English GCSE Grade 3 or equivalent desired.
Applicants can take a Maths and English assessment to support their application.

The employer is looking to offer the apprentice a full time position on a successful completion of the apprenticeship with opportunities to continue developing their horticulture skills.
Qualification / Standard : ST0225 Horticulture or landscape construction operative
Duration 21 months
