Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Years Practitioner to join our team. The ideal candidate will embrace and support Mayfield Nursery's unique, child-centred philosophy with democratic ethos inspired by A.S. Neill's Summerhill school. At the heart of the approach is the belief that every child is innately good and unique, with individual needs and learning styles that we recognise, appreciate and cater to. In turn we foster an environment where children become confident, caring, valued, independent, motivated and respected individuals.

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and education to children aged between 0 to 5 years. Your responsibilities will include creating a safe and stimulating environment, planning and implementing age-appropriate activities, observing and assessing children's development, and building positive relationships with children and their families. This role requires creativity, patience, and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting children's learning and development during their early years.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children aged 0 to 5 years.
- Plan and implement a varied and engaging curriculum, tailored to the needs and interests of the children.
- Observe and assess children's development, maintaining accurate records and identifying areas for further support or intervention.
- Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, promoting effective communication and collaboration.
- Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through planned activities and spontaneous interactions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and regulations, including safeguarding and health and safety guidelines.
- Participate in regular team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance practice and knowledge.
- Maintain a clean and organised learning environment, including equipment, resources, and outdoor spaces.
- Respond to the individual needs and interests of each child, adapting activities and approaches accordingly.
- Promote inclusive practice, respecting and valuing the diversity of children and families within the setting.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Minimum Level 2 qualification in Early Years Education or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with children aged 0 to 5 years in a childcare or educational setting (at least 1 year).
- Good knowledge of child development theories and best practices in early years education.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to engage and build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan and implement activities effectively.
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures and commitment to promoting the welfare of children.
- Creative and resourceful approach to curriculum planning and delivery.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards professional development and learning.

Additional Information:

- This is a full-time position, with opportunities for professional growth and development.
- The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and other pre-employment checks.
- Salary and benefits package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Generous holiday allowance and paid time off - 25 days plus bank holidays.
- Enhanced Pension scheme contributions.
- Employee assistance program, this offers support and practical advice on issues that might be impacting your wellbeing.

- Mindfulness and Financial wellbeing apps and more!
