Main Purpose of the Role

In this role you will be responsible for Unipart Rail’s overall Quality Management System (QMS) covering Products, Supply Chain,
Manufacturing and shared/common processes and its effective implementation across the business. A key part of the role is to
ensure compliance to the Quality Management System and drive continuous improvement. Overall responsibility also includes
management of External and Internal Audit Functions, Product Warranty and Management of overall QMS systems including
documentation and standards.




Reporting into the HSQE Director, the role has 4 direct reports and provides functional support to our quality teams at our
manufacturing facilities at other sites. Must be able to effectively communicate and influence the senior leadership within the
business and be able to communicate with customers and external audit bodies.




Main Responsibilities:

Management of the Quality System

* Manage the overall Quality System and corporate adherence to ISO 9001 across Products, Supply Chain Services, and
Manufacturing.
* Enable corporate compliance to statutory, contract and other industry legislative requirements.
* Prepare an annual action plan to enhance the QMS and prepare monthly progress reports.
* To develop, implement and maintain the document control process together with technical documentation controls and quality
records.
* Ensure suitable access to quality documentation is available for all employees as applicable.
* Work with the internal auditor to devise, manage, control, and realize the annual Internal Audit program, producing reports to
support findings.
* Manage internal Corrective Action and Preventative Action log ensuring timely closure by the appropriate area of business.
* Co-ordinate external QMS audits performed on Unipart Rail, from certification bodies and customers.
* Manage certification and approval to Rail Industry Standards (RISAS, RISQS and others as applicable).
* Act as Management Representative for the purposes of Quality Management.
* Review requirements for compliance to Rail and other relevant Standards across functions.
* Deliver quality reports / feedback with relevant Director(s) at the agreed frequency.
* Provide day to day management and support to the Office Administrator to ensure compliance to the document control process.



Warranty Management

* Provide day to day management of the end-to-end warranty process across all areas of the business, working as required with
other departments.
* Deliver warranties services in accordance with contractual and commercial requirements.
* Work closely with supply chain (warehouse) business areas for all warranty related aspects.
* Ensure yearly strategy and monthly KPI metrics are created and delivered.
* Ensure appropriate governance is in place to monitor multiple work streams across functions.
* Provide effective warranty reporting to our internal and external stakeholders.



Drive Continuous Improvement

* Ensure effective use of the Unipart Way and lean culture to drive Continuous Improvement.
* Ensure the application of the Unipart Way within the Quality team.
* Manage and maintain a Quality department Communication Cell and appropriate metrics.
* Consistently apply and demonstrate UW / Lean principles at all times.
* Work with the wider group to develop standard solutions that can be applied across the business.




Essential Criteria

* Recognized qualification in Quality (e.g. CQI or CMI level 4/5) or relevant degree.
* Expert knowledge of Quality Management Systems and BS EN ISO 9001:2015.
* Trained Auditor
* Six Sigma Black Belt or similar data analysis skills.
* Trained coach and facilitator.
* Previous experience of managing Quality Systems in a multi-disciplinary rail environment.
* Familiar with RISAS and RISQS requirements
* Experience of management of people and multifunctional teams
* Understanding of engineering and manufacturing environments
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize and work to deadlines.
* Excellent team player with good communication skills.
* An ability to relate and communicate at all levels of the organization.
* Deliver high quality presentations to senior level stakeholders.
* Understanding and application of Lean tools and techniques.
* IT literate with experience in Microsoft and Goggle software environments
