Summary

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is a major provider of integrated hospital and community services for people living in Buckinghamshire and the surrounding area. This includes Thame (Oxfordshire), Tring (Hertfordshire) and Leighton Buzzard (Bedfordshire). We provide care to over half a million patients every year. We have over 6,000 highly trained clinical staff. This includes doctors, nurses, midwives, health visitors, therapists, and healthcare scientists.

Amersham Hospital is one of several Community Hospitals within the Trust. We have three inpatient areas: Chartridge Ward, Waterside Unit, and Buckinghamshire Neuro Rehabilitation Unit.

Chartridge Ward have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join their team. This post would be suitable for newly qualified nurses, those due to qualify in the near future, or individuals who already have post-registration experience. Where relevant, we will support you to undertake our Trust Preceptorship programme, offering you the structured support needed to transition your knowledge into everyday practice successfully.

Chartridge Ward is a 22 bedded ward within the Community & Rehab Care Group. We care for individuals who are medically optimised for discharge, usually following a period of time in acute care, but who require nursing support until the appropriate care can be put into place to allow them to be discharged from hospital. This could be in the form of a Package of Care in the patients own home, or a placement in a Nursing or Residential Home. Our patients often have multiple health needs & chronic conditions.

During your time on Chartridge Ward you will gain a wide range of knowledge and nursing skills. These include:

- Patient assessment

- Care Planning

- Tissue Viability & Wound Management

- Discharge Planning & Co-ordination

- Medicines Management

- Palliative Care & Symptom Management

- Diabetes Management

- Continence management

And many more! Please see Job Description & Person Specification for further details and role specifics. As a Band 5 Nurse you will also be involved with supporting student nurses and more junior colleagues.

On Chartridge we pride ourselves on being a supportive team - We all learn from each other, and look forward to learning from new team members.
