Summary

Hours: 6 hours and 15 minutes per week, term time only. Monday to Friday, 11:55am – 1:10pm. Salary: Hay 13 (£3,219 per annum). This is a fixed term post until 31st August 2025 subject to a budget and staffing review. We are looking to recruit a Play Ranger, an exciting new role, to join our well established, friendly and reliable Lunch Break Supervisor team. The successful candidate will strive to help make a positive difference at lunch times. They will need to be enthusiastic, flexible and a strong team player. The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for working with children and be a strong role model for all members of the school community. Duties will include: • Setting up the hall and clearing away; setting up playground equipment; cleaning tables and the hall floor. • Supervising and helping children with their lunch, supporting children to develop independence and modelling expectations for table manners (e.g. correct use of cutlery, encouraging children to try new foods and assistance with any spillages) in the dining hall through the reinforcement of our school rules: ready, respectful and responsible. • Supervising children in the playgrounds and indoors during wet weather to ensure the welfare and safety of all children. This includes holding and reinforcing high expectations of our school rules (ready, respectful and responsible) and our visible consistencies (wonderful walking around the school building, legendary line ups and right response). • To initiate, lead and encourage, positive play and follow the school behaviour policy as needed. These age appropriate activities will encourage sharing, cooperation and inclusion for all. • To identify and work with pupils who are not engaging in positive play to establish new and exciting games and provision for lunch times. • Stop any activity by children which may become too boisterous and result in an accident and support the children to engage in positive play. • Support the Lunch Break Supervisor team in managing behaviour with the support of the Senior Leadership Team. • In the event of an accident, follow first aid and safeguarding policies and ensure incident is recorded properly. • Contribute to a cooperative working environment in accordance with the school’s vision and values whilst ensuring effective communication with all staff. This includes passing relevant information on to class teachers at the end of lunch time. The role may also include supporting individual pupils from time to time. We are particularly keen to hear from people who enjoy leading playground activities and helping children to develop their ideas for play.
