Summary

There has never been a more exciting time to join us. East Kent is looking to appoint four new consultants across its major sites at Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Canterbury, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate and William Harvey Hospital, Ashford. With Trust Board support for an optimisation and improvement programme to be delivered over the next two years, based on clinician engagement and clinical leadership. You will have the opportunity to influence this programme.

This is a successful department with over 40 Consultant Radiologist's.

We provide all the key services that you would expect in one of the largest Acute Trust in the NHS. Including surgical, medical, obstetric, paediatric and gynaecological services. William Harvey Hospital is a head and neck/max-facial centre, and QEQM hospital a gynae oncology centre.

The post will have components of general radiology, including plain film reporting, CT, Ultrasound and MRI. Each department undertakes a range of interventional image-guided procedures including non-vascular interventions including CT and US guided biopsies, PEG insertion and drainages of abscesses.

In addition, it is hoped that the successful candidate will be able to offer sub-specialist experience in one of chest, GI, cardiac or paediatric radiology. The Trust is able to accommodate / consider any other sub-specialist interest.

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with three acute hospitals and community sites serving a local population of around 700,000. We also provide specialist services for Kent and Medway.

We’re on an exciting journey of transformation. With a new Medical School at the centre of our community, a focus on research, clinical leadership and making our trust a rewarding and friendly place to work, there’s never been a better time to join us.

We also offer up to 32 days’ annual leave and active support for study, quality improvement and patient safety work as part of our ‘We care’ improvement journey, and medical education and research.

There is a transformation and optimisation plan with support from the Trust Board which aims to focus on clinical engagement and leadership within the Service over the next two years. If you want to influence the development of one of the NHS largest Trusts and Radiology Services now is the time.
