We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, sensitive, forward-thinking midwife with a broad range of experience to become our Fetal Wellbeing Midwife at The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will provide training and clinical support to our maternity team in fetal surveillance including fetal growth and fetal heart rate monitoring. The post holder will work closely with the Obstetric lead for fetal monitoring, and the clinical governance team to support ongoing improvement in services, driving change within practice. This role is to build on current fetal surveillance practice to achieve healthy birth outcomes for babies and mothers/birthing people and to ensure that colleagues engaged in fetal monitoring, in all clinical settings, are adequately supported via regular teaching and a regular, accessible, expert fetal well-being presence within these settings.

The postholder will lead on element 4 of 'Saving Babies Lives, version 3 (SBLv3) and will undertake, enforce, and audit compliance with guidelines concerning 'Fresh Eyes' (both cardiotocography (CTG) and intermittent auscultation (IA)). The post holder will also work with the wider maternity team to review, develop and maintain elements 2 and 3 of SBLv3 through guideline review, teaching and supporting colleagues, to improve outcomes for women/birthing people and babies.

The post holder will inspire confidence and innovation amongst our incredible workforce who together, ensure the women/birthing people and staff are safe, cared for and listened too. They will work collaboratively with the lead obstetrician for fetal monitoring and the senior maternity teams to provide seamless pathways of care and ensure a positive safety and team culture.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
