Summary

Are you a qualified Swim Teacher who can deliver motivating and engaging lessons for all ages and ability levels?



Active Leicester run swim lessons across all our leisure centres in the city. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Swim Teacher to help grow and develop our programme and provide a positive and enjoyable learning experience for all participants. Join us as a Swim Teacher and you’ll become a valued member of our highly motivated, passionate, and dynamic team play a key role in expanding the offering at Active Leicester and help deliver our vision.



You’ll be based at one of the leisure centres but have the flexibility to work across the various sites which suit you. Spread across Leicester you can work at a sport and leisure centre local to you. See details at Find a sport and leisure centre (leicester.gov.uk).




These are part-time, permanent posts. We fit hours of work around you with set days each week there is the option of daytime, evenings, and weekends.




From as little as 4 hours per week. We also have both Learn to Swim hours which are 50 weeks per year and School Swim hours which are 36 weeks per year. Hours of work per week are open to discussion at interview.



What you'll be doing



You’ll work closely with the leisure centre teams to deliver swimming lessons to Active Leicester customers, ensuring you create a safe and welcoming environment for physical activity. You’ll develop and supervise a programme of instruction sessions, assess the level of prospective members, and maintain accurate records of progress and attainment of participants on the portal. Using your expertise, you’ll provide feedback and information to service users.



What you’ll need



You’ll have an appropriate Swimming Teaching qualification - Swim England (Previously ASA) Level 1 or 2 qualification. With previous experience of working with swimming aids and equipment. You’ll have good understanding of devising and delivering engaging swim classes for participants of varying abilities and from a variety backgrounds and cultures. Using excellent communication skills, you’ll deliver high levels of customer service and be able to appropriately deal with irate or distressed customers. You’ll be able to motivate and encourage members of all ages to ensure everyone feels confident within your sessions.
