Summary

ROLE To co-ordinate outpatient activities at Cobham and Epsom Day Surgeries by liaising with consultants (and their secretaries and Trusts), radiographers, nurses, schedulers and facilities management. To work effectively as a member of clinical nursing team to ensure the provision of the highest standard of patient and customer, accepting delegated responsibility for specific activities from Outpatient Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES To carry out clinical duties in accordance with unit policies and procedures ensuring effective running of clinics, minimising waiting times and auditing to ensure compliance with national standards To carry out dressing changes as per Consultants preference and report and concerns To provide nursing care without supervision, within the level of the post holders experience and competence To undertake phlebotomy in a competent manner To support clinicians in running clinics in a timely manner To ensure high standard of infection control and the prevention of all avoidable healthcare associated infections Ensure relevant clinical skills are adequate and updated in accordance with PREP and that they are developed in accordance with the requirements for the position held. Participate in mandatory staff training and training relevant to departmental role Prepare and maintain clinical records in line with NMC standards for records and record keeping Provide support and training to other members of staff, such as staff orientation and procedures and equipment handling Meet legal and statutory requirements e.g., Health & Safety, COSH Regulations & Manual Handling To ensure sound and effective working relationship and communication with all hospital staff and Consultants To act as patients, advocate, ensuring privacy, dignity and confidentiality are met. PROFESSIONAL RESPONIBILITIES Continue to develop clinical knowledge & professional skills of practice Adhere to NMC Code of Professional Conduct Report to outpatient Manager any complaints, accidents, incidents & near misses both verbally and in writing. MANAGERIAL DUTIES To participate in regular staff meetings, quality assurance audit and in the staff appraisal system Any other duties deemed suitable by the manager as appropriate to the grade.
