We are recruiting a Pre Toddler Room Leader to work at our nursery based in Rickmansworth.
Responsibilities will include:
1. To be responsible for the welfare of the children in your group in particular and the whole setting generally, in accordance with the EYFS
2. To provide a welcoming, secure and caring setting that also has an exciting, challenging and varied learning environment, directing staff and helpers who are assisting you
3. To nurture the children’s spiritual, moral and social development
4. To work with the Manager of the setting to ensure that the atmosphere remains purposeful and well-disciplined at all times, balanced with love and care
5. To ensure that outside play activities are conducted safely and assist in garden monitoring
6. To support and promote continuity and experience in learning, bearing in mind the individual developmental needs of each child
7. To plan, prepare, organise, monitor and evaluate programmes of work and methods of recordkeeping
8. To assess, record and report on the development, progress and achievements of the children
9. To be familiar with the Early Learning Goals and work with the staff and management of the setting in fulfilling the aims set out in our policies and curriculum documents, communicating any difficulties appropriately to your Manager in an open and honest fashion
10. To display the children’s efforts and other items attractively and effectively
11. To be constantly looking for ways in which the setting could be improved and stimulated, making a thriving environment dedicated to improving standards
12. To work as part of a cohesive team which includes qualified and unqualified staff, administrative and maintenance staff, volunteers, students, setting management, the home and the wider community
13. To assist with administrative aspects of running the setting as required e.g. (but not limited to) managing budgets, maintaining confidential records etc.
14. To take part in regular staff meetings to discuss general issues, any immediate problems, safeguarding, equal opportunities, staff training needs etc.
15. To have an overview of the setting and be one step ahead in thinking, planning and judging individual needs as situations arise, not being afraid to make decisions or point out (in an appropriate manner) where changes need to be made by individual staff
16. To evaluate staffing needs and adopt a flexible approach to staffing issues, ensuring that minimum staff child ratios can be maintained if responsibilities require you to be elsewhere and before going off duty
17. To play a part in ensuring high standards of cleanliness within the setting and to be aware of, and follow safety procedures
18. To be responsible for clear communication with parents, carers and other family members to ensure that they remain involved in the child’s learning and development
19. To attend and help organise events arranged for the children and to benefit the children, families and setting as a whole
20. To keep abreast of current developments in childcare and early years education via reading, internal training opportunities, external courses etc. as required
21. To have and maintain an up-to-date qualification in Paediatric First Aid
22. To work towards achieving additional qualifications beneficial to the setting e.g. (but not limited to) Food Hygiene, higher qualifications
23. To ensure that qualifications which require renewal, refreshing etc. are updated before expiry
24. To help students and work-experience visitors gain the most from their time at the setting so that tasks set are achieved, that they remain on target and that their learning opportunities are of a high quality
25. To work alongside the Manager of the setting to develop a forward planning and to contribute to any future improvements
26. To take on any other reasonable responsibilities requested by the Manager of the setting
