Reporting to: The Direct Payments Recipient (The Direct Payments Recipient is the employer, and they hold all the employer’s responsibilities associated with this role. Pembrokeshire County Council supports them to fulfil their employer obligations).

This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and is intended to enable this young man’s family to manage his support independently by employing their own personal assistant.

Main Duties:

• Provide companionship through good interaction. Explore this young man’s interests and get to know what his likes and dislikes are. Support him to develop them. This young man enjoys going to the cinema, taking long walks, trainspotting, attending value independence, learning new skills and loves being active. His main passion is football and would occasionally need support to attend his football tournaments.

• Provide support and encouragement for this young man out in the community to enable him to participate in and try new, fun and interesting activities to improve his confidence, abilities and satisfaction.

• Give this young man consistent one-to-one support and adapt to meet all of his emotional needs. Provide support by managing any negative behaviours. Enable this young man to communicate effectively and have his voice heard.

• Carry out any other reasonable tasks that your employer requests.

• Active and energetic.
• Proactive individual with local knowledge.
• A good sense of humour.
• Caring, honest, responsible and patient.
• Flexibility around hours of work and main duties of the job.
• Reliable with good time keeping.
• Able to use own initiative and be self-motivated.
• Able to maintain confidentiality and be aware of privacy.
• An ability to develop and maintain a supportive relationship.
• Good communication and inter-personal skills.
• A full driving license and use of a car is required. You must have business use on your insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.

Benefits
5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata).
Sick pay at SSP rate.
Training provided if required, where available.
