Introduction:

Are you a fun, outgoing person who would enjoy exploring new activities and places of interest within Pembrokeshire? Would you like to spend time having fun out and about within our beautiful county? If you would like the opportunity to make a difference in somebody’s life and give this young man a chance to create special memories and expand his range of interests in a safe environment, then you have found the right job. You will use excellent communication skills to build a good rapport with this young man and encourage him to meet new people and participate in activities. If you are interested in this exciting new opportunity, apply now to express your interest. A person with a fun, happy outlook on life would be suitable for this role. Ideally, this will be matched with a good personality and sense of humour to pass the time away chatting, enjoying activities and living life to the full.
This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and is intended to enable this young man’s family to manage his support independently by employing their own personal assistant.

Main Duties:

• Provide companionship through good interaction. Explore this young man’s interests and get to know what his likes and dislikes are. Support him to develop them. This young man enjoys various activities including bowling, going out for food, short walks and crazy golf. This young man has an interest in boats and tractors.
• Provide support and encouragement for this young man out in the community to enable him to participate in and try new, fun and interesting activities to improve his confidence, abilities and satisfaction.
• Give this young man consistent one-to-one support and adapt to meet all of his emotional needs, enabling him to personally develop. This young man has passive avoidance and can throw stones when unhappy or bored so a personal assistant would have to be aware of this young man’s movements at all times. This young man enjoys other people’s company but can on occasion be overfamiliar with strangers, which is when an experienced personal assistant could distract and divert attention.
• This young man has right sided weakness and needs support to do more difficult tasks like doing up buttons.
• Carry out any other reasonable tasks that your employer requests.

Person Specification

• Active and energetic.
• Proactive individual with local knowledge.
• A good sense of humour.

Training provided if required, where available.
