Summary
As an adept multitasking, problem-solving, and safety-promoting Electrician (Maintenance) for Sodexo in Northumbria University Student Living, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. What you’ll do:
- Carry out electrical PPM and reactive repairs as required.
- Basic electrical repairs such as changing lamps (including emergency lights), battery replacement, and safety inspections of e/m lighting systems
- To work closely with and support the technical team as required.
- To support the front-of-house team with room inspections and to engage with events as required.
- Robustly manage all sub-contractors and suppliers under your remit to ensure seamless performance.
- Ensure value for money across all areas of the operation.
What you bring:
- A recognised apprenticeship or HNC in an Electrical Engineering discipline with a commitment to undergo continuing professional development
- Skilled in ‘hands-on’ maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a range of plant and equipment and capable of anticipating potential faults or problems that may occur within the full range of building services
- Ability to prioritise own workload with minimal supervision and use of own initiative
- Ability to work quickly and calmly, especially under pressure and in emergency situations
- Flexible approach, ability to request and offer support from other team members as required
- Good verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills
- Experience using databases, spread sheets, and other computer-based applications, including Microsoft Office
- A working knowledge of health and safety legislation
- Knowledge of PPM maintenance systems (SFG20 and PAS55)
- Experienced in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
