Summary
The Saturday Cafe Clubs SCIO have celebrated over 22 years of delivering a wide range of play activities for children and young people with additional support & learning needs. To help us to continue our journey we are seeking fun, vibrant, enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated qualified Playwork Practitioners (Childcare) to join our excellent staff team at The Saturday Café Clubs SCIO.
You will have proven experience working with children / young people, and be confident in planning, delivering, and evaluating play experiences in an out-of-school setting. Ideally you will have experience of working with children / young people with additional support and/or learning and development needs and have experience of supporting their personal care (including toileting) and hygiene needs.
You will be a highly skilled and motivated individual with excellent oral and written communication skills, who cares passionately for children and who is committed to providing a FUN, safe, caring and stimulating play environment.
We currently have 3 permanent vacant positions which have a 6-month probationary period.
This is a 12 hours post (minimum). Successful candidates must be available to work during service delivery hours - Tuesday 6pm - 9.00pm; Saturday 12.30pm - 4.30pm; Sunday 11.45am - 3.15pm.
Candidates may also be asked to be available to work over the Glasgow School Holiday periods at our Cafe Holiday Clubs - payment for these hours are additional to the basic salary at the agreed hourly rate. Your hourly rate will reflect your qualifications and experience.
Minimum qualifications
SVQ Level 2 Playwork or Childcare - SCQF Level 6 (or equivalent) and have an awareness of The National Care Standards and self-evaluation. You will be working towards or willing to work towards childcare or play-work qualification, equivalent to SVQ 3 - SCQF Level 7 (starting this within your probationary period).
Or, have significant experience working with children / young people with complex additional support needs and a willingness to work towards the relevant qualification over the 6-month probationary period
The post holder will be required to meet the criteria for registration with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme, Scottish Social Services Council and will be reference checked.
