Summary

About Us

Bexley is an outer London Borough with the best of both worlds, located between the hustle and bustle of London and the Garden of England, Kent. Within the borough we have award winning parks, open spaces and listed heritage sites.

The Transport & Development Team deliver many of the statutory transport and highway functions of the Council, which includes evolving transport proposals and relevant policies, as well as undertaking the highway development control function and approval of development-related highway works to ensure that planning applications deliver the necessary initiatives for a growing borough.

About the Role

The team requires someone who can inspect, measure and monitor highway works related to new development on site, as well as investigating highway issues when required (including those involving the public rights of way network). You will help cultivate good working relationships with key internal and many external partners, particularly to establish how required infrastructure will be secured.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Martin Able, Transport & Development Manager, 020 3045 5883, martin.able@bexley.gov.uk

We will offer you in return a package that includes a competitive salary, an excellent pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays. For more information on the benefits package on offer please refer to the Candidate Information document.

Candidate Profile

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with site-based experience of highway works who is interested in expanding their knowledge into the principles and procedures relating to highway matters. You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team that, in addition to development-related activities and the formulation of transportation policies and projects, is responsible for many other functions including funding bids and legal processes covering stopping up orders, public rights of way and highway records.
