Summary

About the role:

The Early help team work with children and young people from birth to 18. This role will include work with young people age 11–18years with a whole family approach to be taken.

Working holistically with young people and their families in order to provide a range of assistance and support them to achieve their family goals and to stabilise and improve the current living arrangements for the child or young person.

Deliver a range of evidence -based interventions, including parent group support, to improve family functioning and enhance the lived experience of the child or young person.

About you:

Experience of working with young people and families with multiple problems and complex situations.

Experience of undertaking assessments, creating support plans and attending multi-agency meetings.

Ability to promote the views of children and young people and work in a holistic manner.

Understanding of how children’s complex life experiences can impact on their ability to form relationships and interact with others.

Excellent communication skills both written and orally including the ability to communicate with children young people and their families and/or carers in an appropriate manner

Ability to organise, prioritise and manage work

What you will do:

Build positive working relationship with young people and their families and work from a child-centred, rights based approach.

Work with young people and their families and/or carers with complex situations, to include those who have experienced trauma and abuse. To support young people and families using a trauma informed knowledge / practice to develop a support plan.

Support families in crisis with the aim of maintaining the family unit and keeping families together. Utilising appropriate models and methods to support practice and promote effective and sustained changes

Undertake direct work with young people and their families or carers, by using a variety of evidence- based models, methods and tools.

Facilitate a range of group work, to young people and families for example, evidence based Parenting Courses for parents who need some extra help, or group work with young people in relation to independence skills and participation work.

The Children and Young People Family Support Worker (Early Help) will carry a caseload of children and young people, they will manage their own workload. Children and Young People Family Support Worker (Early Help) worker will ensure that the family have an Early Help Assessment and regular Early help meetings, with a clear Plan of work which shall be reviewed on a 6 - 8 weekly basis. The Children and Young People Family Support Worker (Early Help) will be the Lead Practitioner for the family, will plan and Chair family meetings. The purpose of the intervention is to prevent escalation and families reaching crisis, which would require a more formal statutory responses.
