Summary

We are looking for a Senior Learning & Development Partner, which is a Nation-wide role, to join our Learning & Development Team.

As Senior Learning & Development Partner, you will report into the Head of L&D, supporting with the development and delivery of a broad Learning and Talent Development strategy. Bringing this to life through the team of L&D Partners, to ensure we have the right capability and talent interventions to enable colleagues to deliver our core purpose, whilst demonstrating the right skills, behaviours and values, now and for the future.

Driving an improved learner experience and embedding it within the end-to-end colleague experience. Your decision making will be data led and demonstrate great understanding of the business and people. You\\'ll balance strategy, strong stakeholder and people management, with governance and creativity.

You will be an experienced manager with the ability to lead and build a team, influence and engage with complex stakeholders group wide, working to break down siloes and champion evolved ways of working.

Working closely with the Head of L&D to support development of the overall L&D strategy, you will be accountable for ensuring delivery of the plan by:

  • Partnering senior stakeholders to develop and influence strategic direction for capability and talent interventions, whilst integrating broader group plans. You will shape the learning curriculum for both the what and the how (H,S&L/ Compliance, Technical Skills, Behavioural learning, Manager/ Leadership skills, Supporting the DEI and Talent agenda).
  • Contributing to building a high performing learning function; continuously striving to bring outside-in thinking and being passionate about delivering a simple and accessible offer, with the learner experience at the heart of what we do.
  • Championing the core learning offer for colleagues, managers and leaders, influencing the business to maximise engagement and improve colleague feedback on opportunities to learn and develop.
  • Living 20/80; prioritising work streams and identifying opportunities to stop, standardise, simplify or automate. Ensuring governance processes are adhered to, the right monitors and controls are in place and having a cost-conscious approach to delivering the plan.
  • Ensuring effective plans and resource are in place for delivery of learning workshops (virtual and face to face).
  • Building relationships across the group and driving a group approach, where appropriate, ensuring we remove duplication and drive learner consistency.
  • Navigate and influence a variety of stakeholders, at all levels to gain buy in and engagement around the L&D plan; ensuring business and operational needs are supported.
  • Meeting our strategic priorities by focusing on ensuring we have the right interventions to develop our future skills, talent, behaviours and values required of our colleagues, managers and leaders.
  • Ensuring learning needs analysis is conducted to identify the immediate and long-term gaps and priorities and ensure the L&D plan is relevant and fit for purpose.
  • Being data driven; utilising data and commercial awareness to help shape the plan, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and reporting back to the business to drive further engagement.
  • Championing and role modelling our Values and Win Together behaviours; contributing to the cultural change programme across the Booker Group and actively driving a culture of learning.
  • Maintaining expertise and continued professional development, be a thought leader in your space and strive for continuous improvement.

  • Experience of leading and delivering through a high-performance team, giving them opportunities to be their best.
  • Ability to influence and gain engagement/ buy-in for the strategy, including senior stakeholder management.
  • Experience of learning design and delivery across multiple formats and levels (virtual, blended, online, technical skills, behavioural skills, management and leadership learning).
  • Understanding of talent processes and ability to support in identifying the right solutions to develop talent for the future.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple work streams/ projects (self and others) and maintain an attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt style to influence, engage and motivate others.
  • Proven understanding of diversity and inclusion challenges and opportunities.
  • Knowledge of the latest learning trends, technology and understanding of how people learn.
  • Ability to think beyond the here and now - connecting learning to the wider business context.
