Summary


Eastbourne District General Hospital

We are looking for a development lead occupational therapist. This is an exciting opportunity that will support the professional development of the OT workforce across the trust. Although this role sits within our acute services the post holder will work across the wider occupational therapy profession in the Community Health and Integrated Care division at ESHT. The role will focus on the clinical, education, service development and leadership opportunities for the wider OT workforce and to raise the profile of occupational therapy across the trust. For example by looking at induction processes, training and education, competency development, monitoring and supporting supervision process and learning needs.

We have a large occupational therapy team with both registered and non registered staff as well as apprentices. Alongside another part time development lead OT, the post holder will oversee the AHP preceptorship programme and our specific OT education offer for newly qualified therapists, international recruits, as well as support students, apprentices, and support workers.

We offer regular supervision and training opportunities for professional developments. The post holder work closely with the other AHP development leads and professional leads.

To lead on the provision of competency based assessment, teaching, education and supervision programmes

To support Professional Lead OT with governance regarding the Integrated Community Equipment Service

To design and deliver training programmes.

To lead on and coordinate the professional band forums

To represent OT in the development and delivery of the AHP preceptorship programme.

To demonstrate clinical excellence and act as a clinical expert and advisor for Occupational Therapists.

To create and maintain positive working relationships within the teams whilst monitoring and appraising performance.

To promote an Interprofessional learning Environment

To support the monitoring of standards of care/support and to assist in the development of responsive and innovative practice

To be responsible for own professional development.

To contribute to national and local health promotion initiatives as appropriate, bringing local services to local people.

To create a dynamic environment conducive to learning and the professional development of staff and students including overseeing the development and maintenance of learning resources and materials.
