Summary


We have an exciting opportunity for a creative and forward thinking Occupational Therapist to join our service. You will be working within an innovative and well respected Therapy Services Team. The hospital has a wide range of facilities for Occupational Therapy and established opportunities for social inclusion within the community.

The Senior Occupational Therapist post will initially be based within the Women's' pathway which has a standard medium secure ward and an enhanced medium secure service (WEMSS). Your role might move to one of the other care pathways in future based on service need.

You will lead in producing a high quality Occupational Therapy service for patients on both wards with a Band 5 Occupational Therapist.

You will provide a comprehensive treatment programme based on individual needs analysis. Your work will be assisted by Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioners and Occupational Therapy Support Workers. You will also work alongside professionals from other disciplines to deliver a programme of psychologically informed treatment.

This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust. This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.

To develop and provide effective programmes of specialist occupational therapy for an identified patient group and contribute to the overall development of the women's pathway.

To be responsible for the development, provision and regular review of a needs led therapy services programme. To ensure that Occupational Therapy practice is evidenced based and evaluated through outcome measures.

To deputise for the OT Manager as required and assist in the day to day operational management of the Therapy Services Department.

To be responsible for clinical and managerial supervision and annual reviews of identified staff.

The Therapy Services Department consists of Occupational Therapists, Specialist OT Assistant Practitioners, support staff, Education tutors, and Sports , Fitness and Well-being staff. We have recently employed a Peer Support Worker and have a part time Speech and Language Therapist.

Arnold Lodge offers trauma informed care and utilises a range of approaches and interventions within its treatment programmes.

You will receive a comprehensive induction training programme and support to develop within the role. Clinical and managerial supervision will be provided for the post holder from the Occupational Therapy Manager. You will be able to attend multi-disciplinary reflective practice.

There are excellent opportunities for training and continuing professional development.

Effectively manage a nominated caseload.

Utilise a range of assessments, treatment approaches and evaluation based on best available evidence for the identified patient group.

Be actively involved in the clinical risk assessment and development of risk management plans for patients and adhere to these.

Ensure that quality governance documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Lead on specific developments and initiatives as required.

Attend and contribute to relevant courses, workshops and conferences
