Summary
Due to the retirement of the current post holder Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Hospitals Foundation Trust, an exciting opportunity has arisen within the Infection Prevention and Control Team for a Band 8a Lead Infection Prevention and Control Nurse. We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and innovative senior Infection Prevention and Control Nurse to work within the current team to ensure an effective, efficient and quality service is provided to the Trust, which includes community services. The post encompasses significant high level nursing education, training and leadership responsibilities and will require the individual to work autonomously much of the time. The post holder will be a key member of the Infection Prevention and Control Team and of the Infection Prevention and Control Meetings and will play a major role in the provision of the infection prevention and control nursing service across the Trust. The post holder will lead and line-manage other nursing and administration members in the team. The post holder will need to be self-motivated, experienced in infection prevention and control, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be a strong leader. They need to be able to influence others, prioritise workloads, lead and implement change and have a flexible approach. They need to have evidence of working at degree level and have completed post registration qualifications in Infection Control or equivalent. Applicants should also have had a comprehensive general nursing background, experience of managing others, and evidence of developing and delivering audits and teaching packages. The successful candidate will also be required to take part in the on-call rota.
