Summary

1. Provide expert support, training & scrutiny to NHS organisations in the implementation and interpretation of evidenced based Safe Staffing establishment setting tools (SNCT/MHOST) and guidance.
2. Provide credible knowledge and expertise drawing on your existing safer staffing position in an NHS provider organisation to share current safer staffing evidenced-based best practice with internal teams and NHS organisations.
3. Drawing on the knowledge you gained during the PgCertificate in workforce planning, delivery and assurance, support the development and maintenance of safer staffing evidence-based toolkits.
4. Utilising your current provider-based knowledge and experience support the safer staffing team in the development of safe staffing policy and guidance.

Leading and supporting on training and support of workforce planning tools both virtual and in person to NHS organisations who require implementation of such tools as SNCT and MHOST.

Supporting, contributing and maintaining action plans to support individual projects and workstreams in conjunction with the safer staffing Clinical workforce Leads.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
• Provide expert specialist advice to Clinical Workforce lead and senior members of the team.
• Provide expert specialist support in safe staffing to NHS provider organisation
• Provide expert training, guidance & scrutiny to NHS organisations in the applications of Safe Staffing toolkits/guidance
• Provide expert specialist advice to Clinical Workforce lead, academics and National experts in the development and deployment of safe staffing establishment setting & deployment toolkits
• Provide expert clinical advice in order to manage risks, ensuring they are appropriately identified and controlled and or the appropriate mitigation is in place
• Manage potentially aggressive and/or antagonistic situations with staff and stakeholders at all levels within change programmes for successful outcomes
• Contribute to NHS England long term strategic corporate workforce strategies with appropriate stakeholders
• Implement change programme and proactively monitor progress, resolve issues and initiate appropriate corrective action with provider organisations
• Ensure the programme's governance arrangements are organised in line with the subject matter experts plans
• Ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of projects/improvement programmes
• Escalate concerns where change programmes may be at risk and identify corrective actions to resolve
• Employ effective communication, negotiation and influencing skills to enable stakeholder relationships to deliver objectives over the duration of the tenure/project with:
• Deliver tailored clinical workforce training, assessment and development programmes within NHS provider organisations
• Motivate and develop staff within teams/NHS Providers organisations to ensure they are able to deliver the new responsibilities required by the project/improvement programme
• Support the management of the programme's budget in conjunction with the SRO, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits as the programme progresses
• Facilitate the appointment of individuals to project teams
• Ensure the delivery of new products or services from projects is to the appropriate level of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the programme plan and programme governance arrangements
• Work with the Resource Manager ensuring there is allocation of common resources and skills within the programme's individual projects
• Manage third party contributions to the programme
• Manage communications with all stakeholders, including facilitating collaboration between teams and conflict resolution
• Manage both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects
• Change management in a complex setting that requires agreement from multiple bodies with sometimes conflicting interests.
• Manage risks to the programme's successful outcome
• Work with Lead and Directors in the assessment and introduction of new requirements
• Initiate extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the programme are identified or issues arise
• Report the progress of the programme at regular intervals to subject matter experts
• Effective interfacing in a complex and matrix environment to deliver within resource and timeline constraints with the added challenge of managing team members who report to other teams both internally and externally.
