Summary

About Us
Sutton Council’s Cultural Services are looking for an enthusiastic Library Development Officer to support its growth and development with a focus on delivering our digital strategy. We have successfully secured further funding for digital services which this role will play a key role in delivering.

The Service is recognised nationally for its work innovating library services including leading the Libraries Consortium (TLC), which has grown to 23 authorities building a community driven library service platform that customers deserve.

As a member of the Development Team you will lead delivery of our Information and Digital Services, as part of the national Universal Library Offers. Working across the Council, you will help to raise awareness, build and engage audiences with our digital offer.

About You
As a highly motivated individual you will be dedicated to supporting digital literacy for Sutton’s residents. With a passion for all things digital and a keenness to keep up with innovation in the digital, cultural, heritage and public library sector, you will want to be a trendsetter! The successful candidate will provide training on digital resources for residents, staff and volunteers and undertake management and project responsibilities. It is essential that you have a skill set that includes strong technical digital and digital marketing skills. You will need to be able to use interactive and visually engaging materials for a diverse audience, especially to reach those who need support with their digital literacy. The ability to work in teams at a service and corporate level is essential. An interest in identifying and securing funding opportunities is desirable.

The post is based in Sutton Central Library but you will work across the borough using the network of library, heritage and community buildings to inspire cultural and digital activities.

An understanding of political sensitivity will also be a key part of this rewarding role. Lastly, but mostly, you will be an excellent communicator able to build networks; support communities and the Council’s ambition to continue to put culture on the map in Sutton.
