Summary

This post is fixed term for approximately 6 months to cover for maternity leave.
To operate the central control alarm system, taking calls to ensure that an efficient and professional response to the urgent needs of users of the Lifeline and sheltered housing services. This is a 24hr a day 7 days a week service and you would work 12-hour shifts on a 4-week rotation including some nights and weekend working. The service aims to enable service users to maximise their independence in the community whilst remaining safe in their own homes by being able to raise a call for assistance when they need this. This includes the monitoring of telecare sensors and equipment and well as voice calls.
You must hold IT skills, an appropriate NVQ level 2 qualification or equivalent and be literate and numerate as essential requirements of the role.
You must also have the following skills/experience/knowledge:

Customer contact either face to face or over the phone.
Experience of providing services for older and/or vulnerable people.
Excellent communication skills and be able to respond in a caring, non-judgemental, and sympathetic manner.
Excellent time management skills.
Ability to work as part of a team/on own initiative.
Working knowledge of IT systems,
Ability to evaluate emergency situations, staying calm and communicating effectively to resolve, at times, life threatening situations.
Ability to provide reassurance to vulnerable people who may be stressed and/or frightened.
Ability to listen and deal with difficult situations where callers may become verbally aggressive.

The role includes enhanced allowances for working shifts, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
