Summary
We are looking to appoint a doctors assistant to work on our MacDonald Frailty Ward at Conquest Hospital. This is a Band 3 role open to staff from a Healthcare Assistant background.
The role is designed to assist Doctors with the routine aspects of their work that can be delegated, such as carrying out some clinical procedures, completing paperwork, filing results, assessing patients using pro-formas, and communicating with patients, relatives and other staff. This will allow medical staff to concentrate on more complex patient care.
The role will be based on one of three Frailty wards at Conquest hospital, principally helping the junior doctors with their work. National audits indicate that Junior Doctors have an increasing workload with a lot of both clinical and administrative duties that could be undertaken by other clinical support staff.
To support the work load we are looking for established and dynamic individuals from a clinical support background to undertake these roles. Applicants should be keen, adaptable, and able to think on their feet, and possess good writing, computer and communication skills. Applicants should also be willing to accept the challenge of a new role whilst being aware of patient safety and the limits of their own competence.
The successful applicant will be supported to undertake the Doctors' Assistant apprenticeship
