JOB DESCRIPTION
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am man aged 38 living in Rhydyfelin with my parents. I have a genetic disability, which has led to me having a learning disability. I attend a local respite centre in my area and enjoy spending time out and about visiting places of interest such as castles, going to the beach in Porthcawl and going to have food out. I enjoy being out of the house, going out in the car and generally being out and about. I like going to the cinema, bowling and to McDonalds. Sometimes when I’m out I scream loudly and draw attention to myself. Generally though I’m easy going and my parents describe me as very loving.
PURPOSE OF JOB
The purpose of the job is to enable me to enjoy time out of my family home and allow my parents to have a break from their caring role. In doing so, you’ll widen my social circles and allow me to live a fulfilled and active life.
PLACE OF WORK
In and around the area of RCT, Barry and surrounding areas
HOURS OF WORK
12 hours per week on a Monday and Thursday (5 hour shifts)
RATE OF PAY
Meets NMW + £0.40p per mile
TASKS INVOLVED
Take me to places I will enjoy – cinema, bowling or to the seaside
Drive me in your car
Support me to change my pad while out and about – I am double incontinent
Support me to eat and drink
Help me to manage my money
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
A person who is dependable and arrives on time
Car owner and driver with business class insurance
Someone with experience in assisting with personal care
A person with a positive commitment to this kind of work
A person with a friendly, easy going manner
Someone who is adaptable and flexible would be an advantage
A person who is physically fit enough to push my wheelchair
Someone who is flexible with times
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
