Summary


An exciting developmental opportunity has arisen. This is a 6-month project. We are looking for an experienced Psychologist with an interest in service improvement and MDT collaboration. You will contribute to ongoing service development and evaluation, through audit, research, and service user consultation.

We are looking for a Psychologist with good team-working skills and a strong interest in physical healthcare, who is keen to learn and develop as part of a supportive and welcoming MDT working in the Liverpool Specialist ME/CFS service.



In this 6-month project you will support the evaluation of a pilot programme with predetermined goals and objectives, allowing patients to access psychologically informed care post ME/CFS diagnosis.

They will work alongside and advise a health psychology colleague who is delivering and evaluating group programmes as part of the patient pathway. These programmes will aim to provide skills for patients to manage their emotional distress which can be a barrier to engaging in the wider changes needed to best manage their ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome condition.

The post holder will provide group and individual supervision of their MDT colleagues, aiming to improve the wider team's confidence and skills in supporting the psychological needs of patients and the use of suitable CBT/ACT/CFT strategies with patients post ME/CFS diagnosis.



They will work alongside and advice a health psychology colleague who is delivering and evaluating group programmes as part of the patient pathway. These programmes will aim to provide skills for patients to manage their emotional distress which can be a barrier to engaging in the wider changes needed to best manage their ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome condition.

1. To provide supervision for the appropriate delivery of psychologically informed working used by Specialist Occupational Therapists and others working in the ME/CFS services.
2. Development of an appropriate psychological screening tool to be used at appropriate points in the patient pathway through the service.
3. To contribute to the provision of a high-quality specialist service for people affected by ME/CFS whilst in the service therapy programme. Specifically, to deliver supervision and advice to MDT colleagues on service pathways and work with individual patients and to support the development, delivery and evaluation of suitable compassion-focused group work.
4. To use research skills to support the continuing development of the Liverpool ME/CFS service.
5. To supervise trainee and more junior qualified junior staff as required, for clinical practice and research activity.
6. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and Trust policies and procedures.
