Summary
We have a job opportunity for a Baby Room Leader to start as soon as reasonably possible. The role is based in the baby room based room (3 months to 2 years old).
The official qualification needed for this role is a fully relevant Level 3 or above qualification in childcare. You will need to be dynamic, have the ability to lead part of a team, and be able to use your initiative and time to manage your day effectively to ensure the smooth running of your nursery room. Having worked with children and babies as experience is essential.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established team and to work closely with the Nursery Manager, the management team, and the Directors.
The nursery has an excellent reputation and we want to maintain the excellent standards that the nursery has already been accredited for when we received ‘Good in all areas in our last Ofsted inspection. The nursery team is working hard to strive to achieve outstanding for the next inspection.
We would love you to join our team as we embark on accreditation to 'The Curiosity Approach', promoting awe and wonder in early childhood. This is a unique style of learning for children to be engaged in the joy of DOING rather than the end result.
You will be someone who is mature, experienced, and focused on delivering excellent standards of care with a natural ability to motivate and lead a team and always be willing to go above and beyond.
Location: Roundabout Nursery, Kesgrave, Ipswich, Suffolk
Salary: £25,688 per annum
Hours: Contracted to work 38 hours per week between the hours of 7.30 am- 6 pm Monday to Friday. (The shift pattern is four long days with one day off, with one hour long unpaid lunch breaks)
Essential Requirements (All can be obtained through nursery)
- At least one year Room leader experience
~ DBS certificate/ Clean criminal record- signed up to the renewal service
~ Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
~ Paediatric First Aid certificate
~ Safeguarding children certificate
~ Full Level 3 or above Childcare qualification- the applicant must have already achieved their level 3 qualification
~Baby Room experience

* Who is a positive role model to our children and your team

* Who has strong EYFS knowledge
* Can lead a team dedicated team of practitioners and challenge their practice and environment
* Oversee the learning and development in your room and ensure it's at a brilliant standard
* Have the ability to think one step ahead of the routine and communicate effectively to the team
* Has a warm smiling face that makes every child feel special.
* Is able to laugh at jokes they don't understand or don't find funny!
* Preferably has a little bit of quirkiness.
* If a child requests that they be a captain of a pirate ship, they will be the best pirate captain they can be!
* Feels comfortable telling everybody in the same room as them that they are going to the toilet!
* Doesn't have to have the ability to be able to sing in tune but must have the confidence to sing out of tune in front of a crowd.
* Must be able to distribute warm hugs, as and when required.
* Must possess the skills required to rapidly count the heads of numerous moving small people. This is of the utmost importance.
* Must be comfortable entering public places on the way home from work, with unknown substances on their clothing.
* Must have a high level of comfort talking about bodily functions.
* Must have the ability to pretend to eat playdough creations realistically. This is an essential requirement along with drinking numerous cups of pretend tea.
* Must have the ability to read a ten-page story, upside down, with at least 4 interruptions per page.
* Must be prepared to have lots of fun in the workplace. Laughter is something you can expect to engage in for a large part of your working day.
* Loves being outside come rain or shine. At Roundabout Nursery we love the great outdoors.
* Finally, you must be prepared to feel loved, special, and important to many young children and their families. There is simply no other job quite like it.
