Temporary Accommodation Placement Officer

Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Temporary Accommodation Placement Officer to join our team. As a Temporary Accommodation Placement Officer, you will be responsible for assisting individuals and families in finding suitable temporary housing solutions. This is a challenging and rewarding position within our organization that requires strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to helping others.

In this role, you will work closely with individuals and families facing housing crises, including those experiencing homelessness or fleeing domestic violence. You will conduct intake assessments to determine their specific needs and help them navigate the process of securing temporary accommodation. Additionally, you will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, including social workers, housing providers, and government agencies, to ensure that individuals are placed in safe and appropriate housing options.

Responsibilities
Conduct intake assessments to understand the needs and preferences of individuals seeking temporary accommodation
Collaborate with social workers, housing providers, and government agencies to maintain a comprehensive list of available temporary housing options
Assist individuals with completing necessary paperwork and applications for temporary accommodation programs
Conduct background checks and verify eligibility criteria for temporary accommodation programs
Provide support and guidance to individuals throughout the temporary accommodation placement process
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of individuals' housing situations and progress
Advocate for individuals' needs and ensure they are linked to appropriate community resources
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field
Previous experience working in a social services or housing-related role preferred
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Knowledge of local housing resources and programs
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and data management systems
