My client is seeking a Facade Designer to work on both new build and refurbishment projects to detail and schedule roofing and cladding systems for commercial and industrial building projects in the South East. You will be responsible for designing projects ranging from £500,000 - £5,000,000 under the direction of a Design Manager.
As a Designer, you will have good time management skills to produce the design to an agreed programme. You must have excellent communication skills for co-ordination with suppliers, clients and the project teams. A firm knowledge of the roofing, cladding and façade industry is required for this role.
Overview of role:
- Work from client specifications and surveys, and manufacturers design information to create the design.
- Produce detailed GA, installation, manufacturing drawings and as-built documentation for client’s approval.
- Scheduling of materials to an agreed programme for buying.
- Attend and contribute to design meetings with clients and other members of the broader design team of a project.
- Carry out/assist with site surveys where required.
- Communicate with site managers and material suppliers to develop the design solutions.
Skillset:
- Possess detailed knowledge of cladding and roofing systems, update where necessary by instigating CPDs or ensuring that the latest manufacturer’s information is being worked to.
- Be knowledgeable of the relevant Building Regulations that may effect the works
- Be experienced in the use of 2D AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- You will need to be organised and able to run multiple projects together
- Be knowledgeable of construction techniques and structurally aware.
- Be a strong communicator, written, verbal and including the use of sketches where necessary.
