Summary

We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Fitter to work for the High Voltage Estates department.

This role is for a Frequency Changer Attendant and will involve monitoring 60hz/1200 volt motors, after training, lead to the operation and monitoring of High Voltage Rotating plant at CFCS.

Frequency Changers are an 11kV motor which spins a generator to produce 6.6kV at 60 hertz which provides shore supply to ships berthed at Devonport.

An electrical background, approved apprenticeship and/or electrical ONC, is important and a basic understanding of motors and generation preferred.

Monitoring requires local meter reading, plant condition checking, temperature recording and transferring readings to relevant spreadsheets. Plant is also monitored remotely via System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)so a basic understanding of computers, word and excel would be of advantage.

Role Responsibilities:

Working with high voltage electricity

Undertaking Planned Maintenance.

Carrying out Relay protection.

Circuit Breakers.

Essential experience:

Attention to detail

Ability to read electrical and engineering drawings

Interpret work instructions

Competent in the use of general workshop machinery specific to electrical fitting.

Required Qualifications:

Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in an electrical discipline
Armed Forces PO/CPO/NCO with electrical specialisation
Level 3 Electrical Engineering qualification

18th Edition desirable.

This role is based onsite in Devonport, Plymouth.

An extensive training programme will be delivered.

12 month contract initially

35 hours standard with a possibility of shift and overtime - Successful candidate would be required to work casual shift (days/backs) and expected to work casual overtime at weekends..
