Are you a Senior Performance Analyst that has excellent analytical and problem-solving skills? Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) are looking for an experienced Senior Performance Analyst who is capable of presenting complex data to varied audiences. This role would suit somebody who comes from a business analysis background and has the ability to lead a team of analysts. Technical ability is also essential such as Advanced Excel and PowerBI.

The Money and Pensions Service vision is everyone making the most of their money and pensions’. We are an Arms-Length organisation, sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions, with a joint commitment to ensuring that people have access and guidance to the information they need to make effective financial decisions over their lifetime. The organisation also engages with HM Treasury, which is responsible for policy on financial capability and debt advice. Working hand-in-hand with stakeholders throughout the UK, the Money and Pensions Service will ensure that money and pensions guidance is available to those that need it, adapting to people’s changing needs throughout their lives.

In this role you can expect to:

  • Support the intelligent commissioning of services through performance management, analytics and data management
  • Provide statistical analysis and data modelling using a wide range of tools and techniques on both internal and external datasets
  • To provide data mining, modelling and visualisation expertise and leadership
  • To interpret and communicate insights from complex data analysis in a meaningful and comprehensive way for both internal and external stakeholders
  • To lead and manage a Business Intelligence executive

Responsibilities:

The Senior Performance Analyst will report directly to the Corporate Performance & Analysis Manager. In this role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Identifying the analytical and data-modelling needs for projects and initiatives across the organisation
  • Being an expert in data management, analysis and insight and ensuring the most effective use of tools and techniques available
  • Providing analytic input to derive critical insight for strategic decision making
  • Building and maintaining key relationships with internal and external stakeholders and delivery partners
  • Establishing strong partnerships and advocating collaboration at every opportunity
  • Pro-actively contributing to projects and initiatives across the organisation
  • Working in a cross functional capacity with analysts across the organisation

This is not meant to be an exhaustive list of duties. The need for flexibility, shared accountability and team working is required, and the role-holder is expected to carry out any other related duties that are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.

Experience:

You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to present complex data to a wide variety of audiences
  • Ability to analyse complex data, draw insight conclusions, produce reports and make recommendations to senior stakeholders and decision makers
  • Ability to work with ambiguous, incomplete or missing data
  • Experience of working with large geo-demographic and socio-economic datasets
  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills.
  • Experience of leading / directing a team of analysts
  • Intermediate / advanced Excel: (Pivot Tables, Lookups, VBA)
  • Experience in development, maintenance and usage of PowerBI (Desktop and Service) – or similar Data Visualisation platform
  • Degree with a numerical or technical focus in mathematics, statistics or computer science and/or relevant experience in research and data analysis
