Summary


We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our busy Tertiary Level Neonatal Care team, for the post of Neonatal Junior Clinical Fellow (ST1-3 equivalent) to start August-September 2024 and run for 6-12months in the first instance.

The UHS Neonatal Service based at the Princess Anne Hospital offers the full range of Neonatal Intensive Care facilities including neonatal surgery and cardiac services
• UHS also hosts the Network Neonatal Transport Service (SONeT).
• There are approximately 6000 deliveries per year in the hospital and many of these are ‘High risk’ deliveries referred to the tertiary UHS Fetal Medicine service within Princess Anne Hospital.
• The NICU has 37 cots, 24 Intensive and High Care and 14 Special Care cots.
• UHS is a lead centre within the Wessex Neonatal ODN Network and provides the full range of sub speciality services and referrals for specialist care are received from surrounding hospitals within the Network.
• We run 24 hours a day 7 days a week

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

WHAT YOU’LL DO

This is a clinical post designed to provide experience of provision of tertiary neonatal care, which would be suitable for junior doctors with full GMC registration and who have done 3 or less years of paediatrics (ST3 and below or equivalent.
• Neonatal Intensive care (medical, surgical and cardiac babies) – including procedures, ward rounds and updating families.
• Neonatal Special care – managing patients with less intensive needs
• Postnatal ward – newborn checks and managing babies on transitional care
• Community reviews

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You’ll need to have:
• Full GMC registration
• A minimum of 24 months post-graduation from medical student working as a doctor.
• Good communication skill

Previous experience in neonates or paediatrics is not essential, though a genuine interest and enthusiasm for neonates is essential.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust appointed (non-training fellow doctors and dentists).

Successful candidates will have an educational framework equivalent to training grade doctors, and there will be a named educational supervisor assigned at the start of the post. The opportunity for Continued Professional Development (CPD) is highly supported and encouraged by the Trust, with options available to take study leave. All licensed doctors must meet the GMC requirements for revalidation and there will be an annual appraisal to support this process.

Grades for Trust appointed (non-training) fellows will be paid a basic salary at a nodal pay point linked to the grade, at the rate set out in the National Medical and Dental pay circular. Basic salary detailed below plus any additional remuneration (as applicable) for hours set out in the doctors work schedule (e.g. additional hours, weekend allowance, and any hours which attract enhanced pay)

Basic Salary - MT03 £43,923

Travelling expenses will not be paid for attending interview

Please note that GMC registration (with a licence to practice) and right to work in the UK are essential for this role. Successful applicants will already have GMC registration or will be able to demonstrate they are eligible. Applicants requiring Tier 2 sponsorship should ensure they meet the Home Office application criteria prior to submitting an application.
