Summary


Berkshire Surrey Pathology Services, BSPS, provide a comprehensive laboratory service to Frimley Health, the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, Ashford and St Peters and Surrey and Sussex hospitals.

The Point of Care Team sits within the Pathology remit and co-ordinates the appraisal, introduction, and use of analytical devices in wards, clinics and departments within the hospital trusts and in the community, allowing quality pathology results to be produced nearer to the patient.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident individual to work as part of the Point of Care Testing Team, providing a comprehensive supporting role to all our users of Point of Care equipment in remote areas this will include blood gas analysis and major POCT devices already established within the hospital environment.

The advert is for 1 part time post, to support other staff covering 2 established areas of the Hospital @ Home network - one covers the Reading/Newbury/Slough area the other for Frimley/Guilford. The ability to travel from site to site is essential, main base will be at either of the Frimley Health POCT locations. Full training will be provided.



Work autonomously; to participate in the maintenance, evaluation, and documentation of all point of care testing equipment under the guidance of an HCPC registered BMS.

Ensure that equipment is maintained and controlled to be available in order to provide a rapid and timely turnaround time for patient care.

Make decisions as to the viability of equipment to be fit for purpose based upon procedures and personal findings.

Participate in the provision of the of all External Quality Assurance schemes including Qpoint.

Upkeep databased information such as registers, standard operating procedures, analyser maintenance programmes.

Provide clinical user training for all remote locations, arranging training with the stakeholders and ensuring all training documents are in date and valid

1 post available at 0.49 WTE hrs per week.

Working hours and required weekdays will form part of the interview discussions but the service needs will take priority.
