Your new school This independent school situated in Redbridge, is an innovative provider of education and care for children and young
students aged 5 to 11 years with communication and associated difficulties or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia.
The school prides themselves on not only providing opportunities for their pupils to achieve academically but also supporting them to develop the skills they need to manage their own physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Your new role This role is essential to the support and development of the students being successful and achieving in a safe and caring learning environment. This role will include covering timetabled lessons for the teaching staff, delivering daily a broad and balanced curriculum for the students.

  • Cover lessons in the absence of the timetabled teacher
  • In accordance with set cover work, deliver lessons which are appropriate to the age and ability of the students to facilitate progression in students' learning
  • Ensure that teaching is broad, balanced, relevant, motivational, and appropriately differentiated to maximise the academic potential of all students
  • Promote and maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and behaviour policy of the academy
  • Provide feedback that moves learning forward
  • Provide objective and accurate feedback to the appropriate colleague on student conduct and work completion within the lesson
  • Support individual students or small groups, including those with individual needs, as identified by the subject leader
  • Supervise students on visits, trips and out of school activities
  • Support students throughout the day by fulfilling pastoral responsibilities
  • Attend meetings / training and carry out administrative tasks and duties as specified on the academy calendar
  • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to a Designated Safeguarding Lead

Requirements

  • A recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent
  • Experience of working with children in a primary school setting
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive and flexible attitude
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
