Summary

Do you have a background in Business or Product/Service Design or Innovation? Are you looking for an opportunity to lead a strategic project with societal economic impact, applying your knowledge to a real-world challenge and working within a design-led management consultancy to develop and deliver a new tailored service? The University of Dundee and Graft Design and Innovation Management Ltd. are seeking to recruit a KTP Associate to work on a 24-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) to design and develop design-led strategy and change management services for Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to facilitate their growth plans.

This 24-month fixed-term post is jointly funded by Innovate UK and Graft Design and Innovation Management Ltd. KTP supports partnerships between businesses and universities or research organisations, placing KTP Associates to work on innovative, high-profile projects.

The Associate benefits from a personal development budget of £2,000 per year (allowing them to participate in courses and professional qualifications) and will manage other budgets, including travel and consumables.

In the role, you will be navigating multiple fields of knowledge (business and design) and a variety of sectors to gather, analyse and synthesise data from different perspectives to generate new insights to inform the development of a new design-led strategy and change management service. Around 70% of KTP Associates are offered ongoing employment by the project business partner: it is our intention, that successful completion of the project would result in a new role at Graft being created at the conclusion of the project.

Your priorities will include:

  • Analysing the state of the Strategy and Change Management market, competitors and service offerings; articulating opportunities, barriers to entry and success requirements.
  • Getting immersed in prioritised industry growth sectors to define the scope of further research by surfacing assumptions and hypotheses on the strategy and change management needs of Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
  • Selecting, designing and conducting research to understand SME needs for a strategy and change management service, potential users/customers and their challenges and barriers to adoption.
  • Developing, testing and implementing a range of service prototypes and iterate through further customer feedback * Designing and integrating a range of service options and associated delivery models within Graft that: meet the needs of SMEs, are serviceable and economically attractive for Graft.

Who we're looking for:

  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant area of study is required
  • An entrepreneurial and action-oriented mindset is essential
  • An understanding of the SME landscape in the UK and experience of new business development, ideally in the context of consultancy services
  • Evidence of managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects and/or change management processes would be desirable
