SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant – Job Description

• Provide support for students with special educational needs.
• Supportive and intimate Primary School – 400 pupils 5-11 years
• Psychology graduate needed – 1st and 2.1 degrees are preferred
• Diverse and multi-cultural catchment area
• Planned teacher training from September 2024
• As a SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant – earn £465 to £500 per week
• Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3.30pm
• ASAP start and placement for the remainder of this Academic Year
• Rotherhithe, Southwark – South London
• Access to state-of-the-art forest school facilities

This single form entry primary school is looking for an SEN graduate teaching assistant to provide one to one support to a child with special educational and behavioural needs.

This role has the potential to elevate your current skillset as you indulge in areas such as language and speech therapy and training opportunities looking into subjects such as child psychology. As an SEN graduate teaching assistant, it is vital that you are an empathetic and dedicated individual that has a drive to make an impact in a rewarding environment.

As you embark as an SEN graduate teaching assistant, you will aid the class teacher by providing support to a specific child both in and out of the classroom. You will also develop a meaningful relationship that will encourage them to strive in the school environment.

A particular tactic used to support this objective is the schools dedicated forest school programme, a holistic learning approach that encourages creativity in a successful out-of-classroom environment. You will be encouraged to use this resource in your role as a SEN graduate teaching assistant.
