JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am an 9 year old boy living in the Ferndale area. I am a very happy, loving and caring boy and some people describe me as quite a character.

I really enjoy listening to music and going swimming. I have many other interests such as buses, trains, technology, watching YouTube, listening to stories, eating food and playing games. I am looking to go to different places during my direct payment hours and do as many different social activities as possible.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To keep me safe while accessing the community and doing different social activities. Also to give my family some respite.

HOURS OF WORK

There are 4 hours per week available term time and 6 hours during the holidays.

This would be worked over 1 or 2 shifts per week.

RATES OF PAY

£11.00 per hour

40p per mile where applicable

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

Taking me to different places to do as many different things as possible, such as:
Theatre
Cinema
Swimming
Techniquest
Building up to bigger days out such as cbeebies land
Taking me on different forms of transport like trains, buses and potentially going on a boat.
Going shopping with me.
Listening to me and looking out for when I need to use the toilet and reminding me of this.
Looking out for if I have a ‘meltdown’ when I normally cry and calming me after this.
Keeping me safe when out.

Someone who is able to calm me down when needed.

Someone who is reliable and punctual.
A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home.

ABOUT THE JOB

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
