Vacancy - Cabinet Maker

Our client manufactures bespoke kitchens and interiors. Using streamlined production methods and extensive experience they endeavor to provide quality cabinetry for any room. They create projects for trade clients as well as their own ranges for direct customers. The workshop is split into three main departments which all work closely together.

Build – Creates frames, doors, drawer fronts, plinths, panels, mantles etc.

Finishing – Paints and applies finishes to projects.

Assembly – Creates carcasses, shelves etc. and brings the whole project together ready for installation.

My client is looking for a cabinet maker of any experience level to work in the assembly department. Full training and machinery inductions will be provided but a basic understanding of machinery used in this sector would be useful. The role would initially be in the assembly department, but future training will be provided to enable you to move between departments to cover holidays etc.

Responsibilities:

• Using table saws, track saws, Spindle moulders, routers, drills, lamello and domino machines.
• Understanding rip and cut lists to ensure efficient use of materials.
• Manufacturing carcasses and shelving, attaching frames, levelling units, hinging, and hanging doors, fitting drawers and various mechanisms such as bins and corner pullouts, attaching handles.
• Working as directed by the department manager and following the tasks set efficiently.

Breaks – 15 minutes paid, taken between the hours of 10:30 and 11:30. 30 minutes unpaid, taken between the hours of 12:30 and 14:00. Most employees take 15 minutes at 11:00 and 30 minutes at 13:00. The company has a break room with sofas, fridge, microwave, kettle, and coffee machine.

Holidays – 28 Days are allocated per year, but it is calculated hourly to allow flexibility when taking time off for appointments etc. Bank holidays are usually taken from this allocation but flexibility to work them can be negotiated if safe working practices allow it. They have a Christmas shut down every year which differs depending on which day Christmas falls on, but is usually 1 – 2 weeks, this is also deducted from the yearly allowance.

Overtime – Overtime paid at 1.33 of an employee’s basic hourly rate provided the workshop needs the additional work doing. It is never expected for an employee to do overtime but very occasionally it may be asked.

Pension – A workplace pension is provided after 3 months of employment.

Unpaid Time off – This is also available if production allows it.

Parking – We have onsite parking both in front of and behind our workshop but it is on a first come first served basis. We have yet to experience anyone not being able to park though.
