Summary

A Vacancy at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

The Pain Service is an award-winning psychology/therapy led interdisciplinary team providing high quality pain management services to people in Hackney living with persistent pain.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic clinical, counselling or health psychologist or CBT therapist, preferably with some experience of working with clients with long term health conditions, to join our dynamic and innovative team. The MDT consists of psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, nurse specialist, pharmacists and consultants working across both services.

We would welcome applications from both CBT therapists and psychologists about to complete clinical training in 2023 and, as a well established and resourced psychology team consisting of senior psychologists, can provide a supportive environment for CPD and skills development.

With support from psychology, the teams work in a psychologically informed way and the multi-disciplinary teams are trained to use an acceptance and commitment framework to support our patients to live well even in the presence of pain. Psychological therapy is both highly valued and well-established within the teams and the successful applicant would work as a member of a team of psychologists who are skilled in a range of approaches including ACT, CBT, mindfulness and compassion focused approaches.

The successful applicant will assess and manage a caseload of patients with persistent pain on a 1:1 basis. The candidate will also be expected to plan, organise and support the content delivery of our well-established pain management programme and our newly developed CBT-I group for our pain patients. The candidate will be responsible for the supervision of our assistant psychologist. There will be opportunities for close interdisciplinary working, research, teaching and training & contributing to service development. We place a strong emphasis on CPD through team based training and support for attending external courses.

There are opportunities for development into a band 8a role if/where appropriate.

The service is based at St Leonard’s Hospital in Hackney, close to Old Street and Hoxton Street Market with excellent transport links and good local amenities.
