Summary


Corporate, Facilities and Research Finance Business Partner – Band 8B

The Finance team at North Bristol NHS Trust is looking for a dedicated and innovative self-starter to work closely with the Corporate, Facilities and Research directorates. You will work in the Financial Management team and be responsible for the delivery of month end reports and supporting the delivery of regular forecasts. The role will also lead on all aspects of financial planning and supporting the functions with business development and savings identification.

Previous NHS Experience is not essential for this role.

North Bristol NHS Trust is a major acute teaching hospital and centre of excellence in many fields with an annual turnover of £800m. We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to business partner our Corporate, Facilities and Research directorates.

This role is working within finance, providing an excellent opportunity to have a real, tangible, and positive impact on operational activities and subsequently patient care. You will report into the Assistant Director of Finance – Financial Management

As a FBP, you will:
• Lead the C&F finance team to provide a comprehensive and effective financial management and business partnering function.
• Lead on the delivery of month end process and year forecasts when required.
• Lead on the annual planning process from a financial perspective for the relevant directorates
• Lead on the development of business cases in line with Trust strategy
• Support the delivery of a detailed savings programme.
• Undertake training to ensure that projects are sufficiently embedded within teams
• Develop robust relationships with both finance and operational staff

The successful applicant will have:
• Experience of working in a large corporation - public sector or healthcare experience is beneficial but not essential
• Experience of working in an innovative finance function
• Confidence in understanding and analysing large data sets
• Good understanding of Financial Management
• Excellent stakeholder management skills
• The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, tailored appropriately to the audience
• Experience of managing projects from start to finish, ensuring efficiencies are delivered

You should be a qualified CCAB accountant with a good track record of delivering results within a large complex environment

The post is contractually based at Christopher Hancock Building, Southmead, and at present we have a hybrid working model of remote working and office based when necessary. The requirement of office-based working can vary depending on current pressures and departmental needs. There is an expectation that the successful individual will spend at least two days per week in the office or directorates.

To provide financial professional leadership within the Trust’s Corporate, Facilities and Research Directorates to support the development and delivery of the financial and operational plan.


To provide expert accounting and business knowledge, analytical support and clear presentation of financial and business information to clinical and non-clinical colleagues.


To constructively and positively challenge all aspects of Divisional financial and business performance including the identification, monitoring and delivery of improvements in financial efficiency.


To be professionally accountable to the Deputy Director of Operational Finance and Assistant Director of Finance for Financial Management for the directorates adherence to Statutory financial reporting standards, Trust financial policies and procedures, and requirements from Department of Health and NHSE.


To actively contribute to the Trust’s financial management training programme for non-finance staff including the design of training material and facilitation and presentation at training events.


To provide cover on a rotational basis for the other Business Partners and to take shared responsibility in the quality assurance of financial reports and annual plans.


The postholder must have a recognised CCAB or equivalent qualification with significant post qualification experience and be fully committed to Continuous Professional Development.
