We have an exciting opportunity to join MHA in Southampton as a Communities Manager, managing our community services across Southampton.

A Communities Manager is responsible for developing and managing the Communities Scheme to meet the needs of older people within the local community. Through befriending, lunch clubs, coffee mornings, activity and friendship sessions, outings, practical and social support and much more, our schemes help tackle loneliness and isolation in people over 55 - helping them to lead fulfilled lives and remain as active members in their local communities.

Due to the size and scope of the Community, being a driver / rider with access to a vehicle that enables you to travel efficiently (such as a car, motorbike, electric scooter or electric bike) is essential.

MHA Communities Southampton has recently transitioned into a Collaborative Community, our new operational delivery model, which aims to bring together our portfolio of services (Care Home, Retirement Living and MHA communities) to deliver activities, volunteering and specialist services in a more connected way. All aspects of our services are co-designed with the people we serve, for the people we serve. Therefore, you will be required to work closely alongside the local Care Home Manager and Retirement Living / Housing with Care Manager and colleagues to support the successful delivery of this model.

The post requires an individual with a range of business and operational skills to ensure long term viability and sustainability of the scheme, but critically, who possess a strong drive to deliver high quality services that reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness and promote the wellbeing of older people across a range of community settings. Transferrable knowledge, skills and experience are welcome.

The Communities Manager is responsible for managing the development and delivery of groups and activities across MHA services. The Manager will also be responsible for attracting, recruiting and managing a team of volunteers, crucial to the successful running of a scheme.

This is a hybrid role with an expectation to travel around the area to attend meetings and support service delivery.
