Summary


Are you looking to commence a career in Critical Care in a supportive and well led department? We are looking for a motivated qualified/newly qualified staff nurse to join our team in Critical Care. This post is an exciting opportunity for registered nurses who would like to specialise within the Critical Care setting. The department at North Tees is a busy unit delivering high quality level 2 & 3 care to both surgical and medical patients.

We can provide advanced respiratory, cardiovascular and renal support as required. We are funded for ten level 3 and six level 2 patients, although can utilise the beds flexibly according to patient/service need. We are also pleased to provide an excellent Outreach service to compliment the trusts commitment to patient safety.

The role will involve working predominantly 12 hour shifts with full day and night rotation. We provide effective training and have formulated a new education programme supported by our Clinical Educator incorporating the recognised National Critical Care competency package. We offer various internal local training methods, including our innovative Target days to assist competence achievement, we are also keen to support staff on external courses through the Universities to further develop knowledge and skills. The applicant must demonstrate a commitment to learning and development, work as part of a team and strive for clinical excellence, embracing the 6 C’s.

Personal Specifications
• First level Registered Nurse.
• Experience of working within an acute hospital environment
• Good communication skills both verbal and written
• Organisational/time management skills
• Ability to work well within the multidisciplinary team
• Effective interpersonal skills
• Self motivated and committed to ongoing self development.
• I.T. experience and skills.

Additionally it is highly desirable that the successful candidate would possess;
• Previous experience within the critical care setting.
• Nursing degree or working towards
• Working towards/posses a specialist Critical Care qualification.
• Life support training above basic level (ILS/ALS)
• Experience with clinical audit
