Summary


South East Coast Ambulance Service works across a diverse geographical area of 3,600 square miles which includes densely populated urban areas, sparsely populated rural areas and some of the busiest stretches of motorway in the country. We employ over 4,000 staff over 110 sites with our Head Office in Crawley and over 90% of our staff care for patients either face to face or over the phone.

Our work environment is demanding, high intensity and rewarding in equal measure and spans four Integrated Care Systems requiring a high degree of resilience and a commitment to collaborative working both within and outside the Trust.

SECAmb works to demanding, high intensity performance standards across four Integrated Care Systems and executive roles require a high degree of resilience and the ability to work in partnership both within and outside the Trust.

The Executive Director of Operations also works collaboratively with the Executive Director of HR and OD and recognised Trade Unions to achieve as safe and positive environment for staff as possible.

The post holder works very closely with the Executive Director of Planning and Business Development and the Chief Operating Officer who ensures that the pace and scope of the work of the three directorates are in sync.



As Executive Director of Operations you will lead professional operational delivery to ensure high quality services that are responsive, safe and effective. In addition you will champion the transition activities for the Trust's in its strategic journey to a clinically-led organisation.

A vital focus for the role will be the delivery of a positive culture across the Trust underpinned by our values.

The Directors are based in Trust HQ in Crawley but are required to travel across the geography of the Trust. All Directors are part of the Executive on call rota that requires the ability to be in the three counties at short notice

• Deliver services to the required performance standards as set out by national and locally agreed targets and KPIs so that patients receive a timely and responsive service.
• Achieve service delivery within agreed financial envelope in order to help ensure the Trust achieves its financial targets and becomes sustainable in the longer term.
• Drive quality improvements in the delivery and organisation of services and the education and professionalism of staff to ensure a modern responsive service to patients
