Summary

We are offering you a new post working within the Luton and Bedfordshire Healthy Child Programme, with the opportunity for progression to training as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse covering the 0-19 age range.

Across our Luton and Bedfordshire teams we are developing an exciting opportunity for NMC registered practitioners to work with children and families from the antenatal period to 19 years of age.
If you have a current Band 5 NMC registration, you are excited by innovation, and are passionate about the public health agenda and improving health outcomes for children, young people and families; then this may be the career choice for you.
You will work in an integrated 0-19 team within our Luton and Bedfordshire services.
You will be supported to develop in the role, gaining the skills and knowledge you require to support the skill mix team to deliver our service confidently and competently. You will have the opportunity to work both virtually and in person, gaining experience of our universal services and targeted offer within the community.
There is an expectation that on successful appointment to this development role, you will commit to undertake the Registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) degree course within 3 years of joining us (depending on your readiness, and availability of the course).
Please note that this role requires you to be able to travel to visit various bases, other services, and families at home. The development roles will be available across all areas of Luton and Bedfordshire.

To work as part of a multidisciplinary 0-19 team to identify the health needs of children and young people, their families and the community and contribute to developing a strategy to address individual identified needs as well as those needs within the community.
To be committed to learning and development. Post holder will be supported to develop skills and knowledge appropriate for application to the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse course.
To develop the knowledge and skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate
packages of care in order to deliver early interventions to families in line with our commissioned service.
To support families through a range of methods including home visits, digital drop-in clinics, virtual and phone contacts to assess the needs of children and their families.
To work with the locality teams to support children, young people and families who are considered to be vulnerable or at risk. To adhere to current Safeguarding Procedures, and participate in child protection case conferences and case review meetings as required.
To support other localities as required, to ensure that all relevant clinical skills are developed, and to maintain effective working relationships and continuity of services.
To learn and deliver the universal service within the locality to gain confidence to support families with accessing self-care resources and developing self-efficacy.
To develop skills to promote the use of digital resources during all contacts with service users to enhance self-care skills for children, young people, and their families.
To take responsibility for their own clinical practice including supervision and to adhere to the NMC code of conduct.
To contribute to the development of local policies and procedures relevant to their area of work and contribute to relevant service design projects.
To develop the skills to utilise virtual platforms in assessments, interventions, training, and networking to support effective practice and partnership working.
